STEP 4: Turning
Point-Releasing the Pain
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us
our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).
Taking
Step 3: Believing Christ died for you sins, opens the door to your healing which
essentially is restoring the right relationship with God our Father through Jesus Christ. To be born again means that your soul, once
beaten and battered by sin, is now born all over again and given a fresh start
as a son or daughter, a child, of God.
Get excited!
STEP 4 requires you to REPENT AND FORSAKE YOUR SINS--feel sorry for what you've done wrong and turn away from it. Let it go and let God grow in you.
DO
YOU REALLY WANT TO BE HEALED? We took a time out from Step 3 and journeyed
to
my father’s (Rev. Peter Osei Akwasi Anyamesem, author of The Lion is in The Way) blog, www.narrowgatejourney.blogspot.com, to identify the correct “hospital” in which to be born again. And we could see that there are many kinds of churches out there, but that we must call on Jesus to give us discernment (eyes to see spiritually) and the Holy Spirit to gain courage and strength to stay (and not flee at the first trial) in that Bible-believing, Bible-teaching, Bible-living Faithful Church family.
my father’s (Rev.
So,
I ask you again. DO YOU REALLY WANT TO BE HEALED? True
repentance requires truthfully confessing—speaking—what you consciously know
you did wrong; and, as discussed earlier, every human being from every culture
and belief system has a built-in “sin detector”. We feel (or sense) when we do wrong.
Death and life are in the power of the
tongue. And those who love it will eat
its fruits (Proverbs 18:21)
simply means that whatever we speak out will eventually come back to meet
us. As God spoke everything into
existence with His Word (Jesus Christ) that through Jesus all things were
created, He ate (reaped) His fruits: all humanity and all that is created for
our survival on Earth.
For
some us to admit that we are wrong is a life-threatening struggle, downright
murder, to our “always want to be right” ego-centrism, when we go ego-tripping,
as discussed in the previous blog (Step 3).
IF YOU REALLY WANT TO BE
HEALED--TO BE SAVED, YOU MUST CONFESS YOUR SINS. Now the question is, “To whom do I
tell my darkest secrets?” We fear this
because we expect cruel judgment, backbiting and gossiping from those who get
to hear about it. Unfortunately, not all
members in the Church are mature including Pastors and their wives, church
leaders and congregation.
Do
you think that going to your closet and talking only to God will get you
healed? YOU CAN NOT SAVE YOURSELF.
Here,
again, I pray that you will call on God to lead you to His faithful Church
headed by His chosen Man of God; or that a Woman of God may also be available
to meet your need to be saved. BUT
YOU MUST SPEAK IT OUT, VOMIT IT OUT. What
is vomit? It is a verb—an action—which
means to empty the contents of the stomach through the mouth. Well, guess what, dear? TO
CONFESS IS TO VOMIT OR EMPTY THE CONTENTS OF YOUR SOUL THROUGH YOUR MOUTH SO
THAT YOU CAN GET RID OF THE EFFECTS OF SIN (DEATH) AND BE RE-FILLED WITH THE
GIFTS OF LIFE.
The
Gifts of Life include forgiveness
of sin and being made clean and then the Holy
Spirit gets prepared to fill that space emptied after your
vomiting and then you can go on to complete Steps 5, 6 and 7 in the power of His might, God’s will
and plan for you unto eternal life.
Hallelujah!
Step 4 is
called your Turning Point because you:
1)
stop running in the fire of death (sin),
2)
release the pain
of sin sickening your soul by vomiting it all out (repent and forsake),
3) do an “about face”—that is rotate or turn 180°--and
4)
walk in the opposite direction away from the fire and into the Light of Christ.
Wonderful!
RECEIVE YOUR
HEALING. Don’t stop now. Let’s keep on stepping toward total
salvation—three more to go!
Take my hand and let's sing along as we journey on:
I have decided to follow
Jesus
I have decided to follow
Jesus
I have decided to follow
Jesus
No turning back, No
turning back!
Though no one join me,
still I will follow
Though no one join me,
still I will follow
Though no one join me,
still I will follow
No turning back, No
turning back!
The world behind me, the
cross before me
The world behind me, the
cross before me
The world behind me, the
cross before me
No turning back, No
turning back!

Lyrics to “I Have Decided to Follow
Jesus” by Sadhu Sundar Singh; written by Simon Marak
(based on John 12:26). The lyrics are based on the last words
of Nokseng, a Garo man, a tribe from Meghalaya
which then was in Assam,
India, who along with his family decided to follow Jesus Christ in the middle of
the 19th century through the efforts of an American Baptist missionary.
Called to renounce his faith by the village chief, the convert declared,
"I have decided to follow Jesus." His two children were killed and in
response to threats to his wife, he continued, "Though no one join me,
still I will follow." His wife was killed, and he was executed while
singing, "The world behind me, The cross before me." This display of
faith is reported to have led to the conversion of the chief and others in the
village. (Wikipedia)
